SM&Co was established by Late Shaik Mastan, a disciplinary man with principles and ethics. Young Shaik Mastan was very keen and eager to learn and grow, and at an early age of 17 years he started the fishing business and grew it over time. He was very successful in his vision of expanding the business all over India . Mr. Mastan passed away in 2005, but his legacy has been carried out by his sons.
As on today , SM & Co, has business operations in Veraval, Gujarat; Mumbai, Maharashtra; Hyderabad, Telangana, and also in states of Goa, West Bengal and Assam with principal office in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh carrying forward the legacy and vision of Shaik Mastan. Till date it is being run and operated as a family owned enterprise.
SM&Co has made its name as a prominent trade merchant in the dry fish business – in both consumer segment (individual consumption) and commercial segment (as poultry feed).
SM&Co believes in traditional and natural process of sun-drying fish, and always kept away from using chemicals and/or additives. We trade with a variety of dry fish – Bombay duck, Anchovy, Shrimp, Belt fish and Dry salted Indian Mackerel etc. to name a few.
Shaik Mujibur-Rehman, one of Shaik Mastan’s youngest sons had a similar vision not just with expansion of the business within India but also taking it overseas . He entered the business in 1994 and learnt the ropes by working in Gujarat and other places and returned back to the home base to assist and learn from his father.
In the past two decades the business was expanded into Bangladesh. Now under Shaik Mujibur Rahman's entrepreneurial spirits and leadership, SM&Co is now looking forward to explore and expand into territories beyond south Asia . Quality and timely delivery are of paramount importance, and the founding family believes that, that's the key to success.
